Welcome to the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op!
Vancouver Island's first Bio-Diesel Blending Pump being used by CVRD Fleet in Duncan, BC
"We eat locally, and so do our cars" is the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op's (CB-DC) motto. Currently, our 200 plus members have easy access to 100% Bio-Diesel (B100) made from recycled waste cooking oil, and is produced right here in the Cowichan Valley.
CB-DC’s waste oil is collected from local restaurants who use vegetable oil. They are part of our Eat Better Locations program. It’s a win-win situation, because when we EAT BETTER, our vehicles SMELL BETTER.
Better because biodiesel is easy on the planet and easy on the carbon cycle compared to regular fossil-diesel. Better because our B100 is all biodiesel, not blended with petro-diesel like commercial sources. Better because the life-cycle carbon emissions are lower and the exhaust fumes are 90% less toxic. Better because we don’t compete with food crops, we recycle waste streams into clean-burning sustainable fuel.
Help us spread this Bio-Diesel Blending Pump and technology to the CRD and all over Vancouver Island. We are currently fundraising to set-up another pump in the CRD. This will provide easy access for CRD fleet and people of Victoria to get biodiesel made from locally sourced waste cooking oil. Support us by becoming a member or making a donation. Help Vancouver Island take a step towards energy resilience today!
