eat better! smell better!

The Coop is supporting the Cowichan Energy Alternatives Society’s application for the SUN FM Supergive contest. The main prize is $25,000 in advertising and an additional $25,000 in fund raising help. We are hoping to get the word out, and see this as a wonderful opportunity to let Cowichan Valley residents know the great strives the community is making in adopting alternative energies (including bio-fuels). You can vsit the contest page here. Visit the Youtube submission here.

Welcome to the CB-DC (Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op). Currently, our 140 plus members have easy access to Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) and Bio-Diesel (B100) locally recycled and produced right here in the Cowichan Valley.

CB-DC’s stock of recyclable waste oils generally comes from local restauranteurs who use non-trans-fat oils. They are part of our Eat Better Locations program. It’s a win-win situation, when we EAT BETTER, our vehicles SMELL BETTER. Better because we don’t compete with food crops. Better because not is it only more environmentally friendly than regular diesel, it’s a higher concentration of biomass than most other bio-diesels available from commercial sources. Better because the exhaust fumes are cleaner, less toxic.

Mmmmm. Did I just get a whiff of french fries?

The CB-DC needs your help to upgrade its facilities. Our goal is to add a cardlock system at the CPS fueling site.  We have reached over half of our $24,000 fundraising goal, but we still need an additional $10,000 to make this happen. Any donation towards this initiative, and our other efforts in making bio-Fuel more accessible in the Cowichan Valley, and Vancouver Island in general, would be greatly appreciated.
